Pomfret Fish Curry Recipe
Ingredients
- 500 gms Pomfret fish (450-500 gms)
For Marination:
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Refined Oil
For the Masala Paste:
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 2 medium Onions (quartered- 150 gms)
- 4 tbsp Fresh Coconut (pieces)
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
Other Ingredients:
- 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 tsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
- 4 tbsp Refined oil
- 2 nos Green Chillies (cut and slit)
Instructions
Preparation:
- Marinate the fish with items indicated.
- Set aside for 15-20 mins. Lightly fry 2 mins on each side on a pan with 1 tbsp oil.
- Dry roast the cumin & mustard seeds on low heat for 2 mins. Remove and cool.
- Grind it into a powder, add the other ingredients for the Masala Paste and make it into a paste.
- Cut & slit the green chillies.
Process:
- Heat oil in a pan/ kadai.
- Add the ginger garlic paste & fry on low heat for 2 mins.
- Add the Masala paste, mix and fry on medium heat for 2 mins.
- Add 1/2 tsp salt, mix and continue to fry on low to medium heat for 13-15 mins till oil separates.
- Add 250 ml water, Kashmiri Red Chilli powder and mix & add the lightly fried fish pieces. Add slit green chillies & stir gently.
- Cover & cook on low heat for 10-12 mins.
- Shake the pan to mix. Do not use a spoon…the fish steaks will break.
- Serve with rice.
