Tawa Mutton Fry | Tawa Mutton Masala

Ingredients for Tawa Mutton Fry:

  • Boneless Mutton pieces – 500 gms
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder – 2 tsp
  • Green cardamom-3
  • Cloves – 4
  • Cinnamon sticks – 1/2 inch piece
  • Salt- 1 tsp or to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Fried onions ( birista ) 1 medium onion
  • Water- 200 ml

Ingredients for tawa frying:

  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Onions, sliced- 2 medium
  • Ginger, chopped- 1 tsp
  • Garlic, chopped – 1 tsp
  • Green chillies, chopped- 2
  • Coriander leaves, chopped – 1 bunch
  • Coriander powder- 2 tsp
  • Garam Masala powder- 1 tsp

Process:

  1. In a pressure cooker, add boneless pieces of Mutton, Salt, Turmeric powder, Red Chilli Powder, Whole garam Masala, Fried onions, 200 ml of water and Oil. Pressure cook till 4 whistles
  2. Separate the Mutton pieces & cook the gravy on high heat till it is thick. Reserve the gravy.
  3. In a Tawa or frying pan, add 3 tbsp oil & when hot, add the sliced onions.
  4. Once the onions are slight brown, add the chopped ginger, garlic & green chillies . Sauté for 2 minutes & add the boiled Mutton pieces.
  5. Sauté till mutton turns slight brown & add the coriander powder & garam masala powder.
  6. Turn it a few times & then add the gravy set aside from the pressure cooker.
  7. Tawa Fry till the mutton pieces are roasted well in the gravy.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
